IT IS LIKE THAT OL' IRONIC STORY

about HOW one did NOTHING
when IT came to OTHER people,
and WHEN that individual
NEEDED HELP, there WAS NO ONE left
TO HELP THEM...

THIS IS A systematic "PLAGUE"
that IS brought ONE by the 2%
RICH & POWERFUL
(or SO they "THINK")
in The Los Angeles basin...

IT OCCURS EVERY where
POVERTY & INjustice
IS cultivated & NURTURED
to BENEFIT only "the PRIVILEGED"!!!

DO SOMETHING
(if no thing ELSE but make a few sandwiches
& a beverage for the "less fortunate/ residentially CHALLANGED
in YOUR community...)

THINK global & act [RESPOND] LOCAL!!!!!

In a sense I cannot believe that I LEFT off, last edition with:
“WHAT WILL BE  “the topic” of our NEXT post…???”

And then again, I look around myself and see these people frantically LOOKING for something TO FILL THAT “desperate NEED”…That THEY really DID NOT KNOW THEY HAD, until the PRICE dropped…

This IS and HAS BEEN (“traditionally”) a TIME of GIVING THANX; spending TIME with friends and loved ones; and even minimally enough of just “wishing someone a HAPPY THANKSGIVING”!  Yeah, HELL, IT has NEVER been perfect, except maybe for The Indigenous American Aboriginals taking EITHER pity (or the reality that THEY would have to
“CLEAN UP THE MESS”) ON the ill-prepared “White, Anglo, Saxon, Protestants”…lest I digress!

Meanwhile BACK HERE in “good ol’ 2014”: HOW can one day of supposed, “giving of THANX” (which has now been supplanted by $PEND; $PEND; $PEND: FUEL The ECONOMY, by starving THE POOR, and, basically MAKING THE RICH even RICHER).

THE ANSWER IS SIMPLE: WE CANNOT!!!!  There IS NO way to DO THIS! 

WHO SUFFERS, by this complete DISREGARD of BASIC, and traditional societal, cultural, and common THEMES??? WE ALL DO!

WHO suffers the most, besides the obvious POOR, SICK, AGED & DESTITUTE???

MUSIC and The ARTS of course!

JUST HOW MUCH LIVE, LOCAL, MUSIC did YOU hear, or SEE performed???

HOW MUCH “locally made ARTS & CRAFTS” did YOU see being PURCHASED, HELL,
even being OFFERED???

I could, would, and should GO on & ON & ON… about this BUT I won’t…IT IS obvious, and IF IT IS NOT, then THERE IS SOMETHING very DISTURBING and WRONG goin’ ON!

Instead I will CLOSE this “edition of MY BLOG” with HOW grateful and thankful I AM for
ALL that I HAVE, and sometimes WHAT little…

ALSO, I have SOME BIG NEWS about my FIRST LIVE Concert in 2014…STAY TUNED

From my last contribution, I have really agonized over what I was going to strive to communicate in this “installment”. As I pointed out last time, one of my major causes and interests, as many of YOU know already, IS The SUPPORT Of local MUSIC (Art, Crafts & CULTURE) In OUR Communities! As funding supposedly, and, of course, somehow mysteriously disappears and “dries up” for educational, community and “grass root” programs that educate, support and encourage MUSIC and The Arts.  Curiously, but NOT so surprisingly corresponding with heroin production, and pharmaceutical drug companies PROFIT$,   at all time highs (pun intended), and the proclivity of expensive vehicles being driven around, by the 2 percenter’s…As the “middle class” shrivels and dies to give rise to the new “technoc-rat”…I could go on ad infinitum & ad nasuem…BUT then again, who would LISTEN, and more importantly DO anything about IT???  Because a society, culture, and civilization are basically judged on two merits: HOW they support & encourage MUSIC and The Arts & how the most vulnerable in their society, culture, and civilization are TREATED!

We see and hear that MUSIC, as well as rest of The Arts are being systematically being continually eroded as the new STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) categories take over for any sort of Liberal Arts Education.   I guess that robots and cybers DO NOT listen to MUSIC or go to museums, certainly the NEW class and RACE of “technoc-rat”…certainly will NOT and DOES NOT have the time, or interest.

The question of WHAT will become, and more importantly: WHAT can be done to
CHANGE???

IS ALL technology BAD??? Is all MUSIC and ART, worth ALL the time, effort, energies, and sacrifices used to make it???

WHAT are YOUR answers?? I’d love to hear about them!

THIS DAY & AGE

Since this is my first contribution and post to this blog, I wanted to start off with something topical, and yet not to “heady”.  We all (hopefully) know the state and time of man & woman in our society and culture (or better yet the lack thereof).  We can either choose to turn away apathetically, confront, or choose to rise above it all, and seek some type of solution.

Historically, any great or even non-descript movement has been out of time and place with the civilization and culture that it existed and evolved.  Great composers and musicians like Mozart, Bach, Beethoven and even Chuck Berry were never fully appreciated by their own contemporaries.  In fact often ridiculed, dismissed, and even outlawed by the powers-that-be in their cultures, it was only their audiences, and in particular the generations that came after that realized the true genius and artists that they actually were and are!

We live in a society and culture (or lack thereof) that is beyond technologically driven, but obsessed!  People, places, and things change at the speed of nano seconds and the swipe of a screen.  Attention spans are lucky if they last thirty seconds, and this is quickly deteriorating.

As Josef Broz Tito once described the beginning of the end of Communism, and his own dis-enchantment with the false promises and outright corruptness: “That any movement that seeks to perpetuate itself, in turn becomes reactionary”.

I could go on and on about how dismal it is, and how it will continue to decline, because if technology is the new economy we will continue to be slaves, and for the most “techno-peasants” of what will be remembered as the new DARK AGES.

I would rather than to continue to describe and highlight the obvious problems and shortcomings of LIFE on “technologies” TERMS, start a dialogue and discussion about some of the solutions that may be available.

One of my major causes and interests, as many of YOU know already, IS The SUPPORT Of local MUSIC (Art, Crafts & CULTURE) In OUR Communities!  Let us end this first POST of this BLOG here, and ASK ourselves just HOW are WE choosing to SUPPORT local MUSIC In Your  Community????

This will hopefully be “the topic” of our NEXT post….
